Hanoi assures Samsung of in time R&D Center completion

Hanoi pledged to give the best support to Vietnam's biggest investor to put its R&D Center into operation as planned.

The Hanoi authority will support Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) to complete the construction of its R&D Center as scheduled for the end of 2022, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh said on September 22.

The city's chairman said that the city and related departments will give the utmost assistance to SEV to ensure Samsung Vietnam Mobile R&D Center (SVMC) Hanoi begins its research in the near future, the city's mayor told SEV’s General Director Choi Joo Ho at the meeting.

Thanh spoke highly of the contributions that SEV has made to the socio-economic development of Vietnam in general and of Hanoi in particular.

Hanoi always welcomes international corporations to run their business in the city, including Samsung, one of the city's major strategic partners, Thanh said.

As part of supporting investors, the city is speeding up the construction of Ring Road No. 4, which will be completed and connect the provinces of Bac Ninh and Hung Yen by 2028, opening up a huge opportunity for socio-economic growth, the chairman said.

At the meeting, Choi expected the city to help solve administrative obstacles to make sure the project would finish as planned.

Choi said that SEV will focus on R&D activities in the future, and the upcoming center will play a big role in the plan.

The R&D Center, which will work as a Southeast Asian center of its kind, will not only research physical products such as software, hardware and smartphone, but also study modern technologies including IoT and AI.
