Hanoi awards the honorary citizen title to an American doctor

Ha Noi People’s Committee on March 18 hold a ceremony to award the title “Ha Noi Honorary citizen” to Mr. Payam Nahid, one of world`s leading experts in lung disease

Mr. Payam Nahid is Professor, Master, Doctor, head of Respiratory and Asthma Clinic of Lung and Critical care Department, San Francisco General Hospital, University of California, San Francisco, USA. He is also one of 12 outstanding foreign people honored as “Ha Noi Honorary citizen” for their great contribution to the capital city on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Ha Noi’s Liberation Day and 15th anniversary Ha Noi being recognized as “The City for Peace” by UNESCO.
Payam Nahid has developed a system for detecting and treating pulmonary tuberculosis which is applied at several local medical centers, including the National Lung Hospital in Ha Noi. He also donated a lot of health equipment to local clinics worth around US$300,000 in total.
Addressing at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Ha Noi People’s Committee Le Hong Son recognized his tremendous dedication for Capital Health in general and lung sector in particular. The city also expressed gratitude and honored for the valuable contribution of foreign citizens for Viet Nam and Ha Noi. It is a chance to strengthen solidarity, friendship and international cooperation of the city for the purpose of peace, development and social progress.
