THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi has deployed a wide range of measures to minimize flooding risks across the city, as Typhoon Ragasa, the strongest storm worldwide so far in 2025 approaches.

The Hanoi Sewerage and Drainage Company has directed all affiliated units to lower water levels in drainage systems and retention lakes to the lowest point, ensuring safe operation of pumping stations and sluice gates.
Construction sites that may obstruct water drainage are being reviewed and contractors are required to set up emergency response plans.
Daily clearance of waste and unclogging of water inlets have been intensified citywide.
Drainage companies are tasked to maintain strict on-site duty following the “four-on-the-spot” principle. That means they must prepare full manpower, machinery and supplies in case of emergency.
In addition, all units must closely monitor weather updates and maintain uninterrupted communication with the city’s Civil Defense Command, the Department of Construction and local authorities to promptly handle any arising incidents.
Hanoi residents are advised to stay vigilant and take precautionary measures to minimize damage.
