Hanoi busts online network selling hundreds of weapons

Authorities in Hanoi intensify crackdowns on illegal online weapon sales, aiming to safeguard community safety and prevent rising security threats.

THE HANOI TIMES — The Hanoi Department of Public Security on September 7 announced that the police has raided a ring of illegal weapon traffickers and seized hundreds of weapons.

In a public statement, the city police said that the raid was conducted at a house in Vinh Hung Ward on August 26.

On the site, the law enforcement unit seized 153 batons, 490 metal knives, 14 pen-shaped knives, three electric guns with nine bullets, nine electric batons, 15 metal nunchakus, 141 pepper spray cans and various other items.

The weapons and tools had been traded via online platforms, the police said.

Further investigation are now underway. The local police will have strict measures to monitor and handle individuals and groups involved in illegal weapon trafficking, ending these wrongdoings and ensuring social security.
