Hanoi citizens to buy social houses online

Hanoi would build an e-portal for its citizens to rent and buy the social houses via online platform, said Hanoi Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung during the municipal meeting yesterday.

Accordingly, the city authorities will have to make major decisions this March, including some guidelines on implementing social housing plan. At the meeting on March 6, Hanoi Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung said that the criteria for social housing buyers would be tightened and transparent.

Specifically, “they must be the ones who can’t afford high-end commercial apartments”, Chung said. Besides, it’s vital to monitor in case one couple, both husband and wife register for two separate apartment, which is a typical hole in legal framework for buying social houses.
The Mayor also recommended building an e-portal for those buyers to register publicly, and for all unqualified portfolios to be rejected. Hence, the citizens in demand can register by region, acknowledge all the criterion and have high responsibility with their portfolios.
Hanoi has recently approved the 1/500 detailed planning of the pilot social housing project for 11,000 people.
In 2018, the city is expected to build an additional 11 million sq.m of housing, including 430,000sq.m of social housing, 348,000sq.m of resettlement housing, and 2.1 millionsq.m of commercial housing, according to a report published by the Hanoi Department of Construction. At present, Hanoi is developing commercial housing for resettlement purposes, as well as concentrated social housing in Dong Anh, Gia Lam, Thanh Tri, and Bac Tu Liem districts.
