Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue stressed the view during a meeting with Hanoi’s leaders today [February 7] ahead of the upcoming Lunar New Year.

Hue stated that in 2023, amidst favorable conditions, opportunities, and intertwined difficulties and challenges, the country has achieved many significant and comprehensive results across various sectors. Economic growth for the whole year reached 5.05%, placing it among the high-growth groups in the region and globally.

The macroeconomy remained stable, with controlled inflation, and public debt, and propelled growth, ensuring major balances.

He commended Hanoi's socio-economic development achievements in 2023, such as advancing planning work, prioritizing technical infrastructure and urban development, and investing in transportation infrastructure, including significant projects like the Ring Road No.4.

Hue emphasized the significance of 2024 and urged Hanoi to continue seeking stronger, more resolute solutions, achieving higher breakthroughs and comprehensive excellence in completing the tasks of 2024 and the entire term.

He proposed that the Party Committee and Government of Hanoi focus on completing a comprehensive and coordinated development structure for the capital, meeting the requirements of rapid, equitable, sustainable development, and international integration.

Hue expected Hanoi to coordinate closely with the National Assembly and Government agencies to finalize drafts such as the amended Hanoi Capital Law, the Hanoi Capital Planning for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, and the adjusted Hanoi Capital General Planning until 2045 with a vision to 2065, submitting them for consideration, approval, or feedback during the 7th session of the National Assembly (May 2024).

 Overview of the meeting.

“The city should continue effectively implementing major plans, especially those concerning the Red River and Duong River zones, to transform and fundamentally change the urban landscape,” he noted.

Mobilizing, managing, and efficiently utilizing all human, material, and financial resources of the capital and its surroundings with the spirit of "Hanoi for the nation, the nation for Hanoi" to promote production and business, accelerate development faster, stronger, and more sustainably, and fulfill the socio-economic development tasks of 2024 and the entire term, achieving milestones to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the capital (10/10/1954 - 10/10/2024).

Other priorities mentioned by Hue is for Hanoi to develop and innovate in cultural and cultural-industrial fields, building Hanoians who are elegant, refined, cultured, compassionate, epitomizing Vietnamese culture, intellect, and human values, deserving to represent the entire country, being a major center for education, training, science, and technology; ensuring social security, improving social welfare, and the quality of life of the people of the capital.

"This is a great responsibility for the Party committee, government, and people of the city. I suggest that every cadre, party member, soldier, and Hanoian clearly understand their responsibilities, continue to constantly cultivate, strive, and train in political qualities, ethics, morality, and work capacity to fulfill the assigned tasks," emphasized Hue.
