Hanoi creates more than 179,000 jobs in nine months

The labor market in Hanoi in the first nine months of 2022 has regained its pulse, recording a recovery and substantial growth since March 2022.

Hanoi has found jobs for more than 179,000 people in the first nine months of 2022, achieving 112.2% of the year's plan, according to the latest report from the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.

The department’s deputy director Nguyen Hong Dan said that in the third quarter of this year, along with the economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, the city has stepped up solutions to develop the labor market and create jobs for idle workers under the new normal.

“The labor market in Hanoi in the first nine months of 2022 had regained its pulse, recording a recovery and strong growth since March 2022, when the city reopened business activities, tourism, restaurants and hotels,” Dan said.

He added that to ensure the set targets for job creation, the department has researched the current labor market situation, development trends and economic implications in the coming times for accurate assessment and prediction of scenarios.

"The department implemented many solutions to exceed the goal of helping 160,000 workers find jobs throughout the year. We will continue to find appropriate solutions to ensure employment for all working-age people," Dan stressed.

Besides, the department will improve the quality of Hanoi's labor force, support workers in vocational training, and expand career opportunities in the context that the Covid-19 pandemic has been under control, Dan noted.

He emphasized that the department will complete the network of collecting and providing labor market information for the comprehensive operation of the satellite job exchange system.

The Hanoi Employment Service Center has organized 189 job fairs, during which over 4,900 units and businesses recruited 12,800 laborers.

The center has also opened an official channel on social networks to inform employees about activities of interest to them. The information includes job fairs and unemployment insurance policies. It is also a channel to promote the image of companies and individuals who post their recruitment information.

In the last three months of 2022, Hanoi will continue implementing solutions to energize the labor market. These solutions include reducing the time to handle administrative procedures, holding vocational training and finding new jobs for unemployed people, and deploying policies to provide loans for job creation, labor export, production development, restoration and development of traditional handcraft industries.

The city also continues implementing policies to support employees by improving labor market forecasting, assessing applications and approving loans, collecting market information, and connecting labor supply and demand.

The department will also effectively implement the project to improve the operational efficiency of the city’s job exchanges in the 2021-2025 period and the following years.

Earlier, in the first half of this year, the city found jobs for more than 118,900 employees, reaching 74.3% of the year's plan, up 21.4% over the same period in 2021.
