Hanoi Days in Dien Bien Program set to run in August

Hanoi's typical and unique cultural heritage will continue to be featured in Dien Bien – the land of historic Dien Bien Phu Victory.

The Hanoi Days in Dien Bien Province program will take place from August 9 to 11 in the mountainous province with a wide range of events.

The program is part of the plan recently approved by Hanoi People's Committee Chairman Tran Sy Thanh to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the capital's Liberation Day (October 10, 1954-2024).

The opening ceremony is expected to be held on August 9 at the May 7 Square in Dien Bien Phu City.

An exhibition entitled "70 Years of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954-2024), 70 Years of Capital Liberation Day" will take place at the Dien Bien Cultural Conference Center from August 9 to 11.

The exhibition is expected to display 70 photos, documents, and typical images of the capital Hanoi, foreign affairs activities, cultural exchanges between Hanoi and Dien Bien, and the capital's army and people during the resistance war against the French in 1945-1954.

The exhibition also shows the connection between the Dien Bien Phu in the air” victory in Hanoi in December 1972 (Operation Linebacker II) and the Dien Bien Phu victory on May 7, 1954 and the liberation of the capital.

In addition, a program to promote the capital's agricultural products, traditional handicraft villages, and typical OCOP products will be held at the May 7 Square in Dien Bien Phu City.

An art show entitled "Melodies of Unity" will be held on August 10 at the square with the Hanoi Youth Union presenting gifts to the Dien Bien Provincial Youth Union and providing scholarships to students in need in Dien Bien Province.

The program is organized by the Government of Hanoi to further promote and showcase the typical and unique cultural features and heritage of Hanoi as a City for Peace and a Creative City.

This will also strengthen cooperation between Hanoi and Dien Bien in promoting and utilizing the potential and advantages of culture, tourism, and economy, attracting Hanoi tourists to Dien Bien and vice versa.

According to the Hanoi People's Committee, the program aims to give the Northwest and Dien Bien ethnic minority groups a good impression of the capital's unique beauty, culture, heritage, and especially its development achievements over the past 70 years.
