Hanoi deploys insurance app VssID amid Covid-19 pandemic

People are instructed to access dichvucong.baohiemxahoi.gov.vn, fill the personal field to perform electronic transactions or register directly on the insurance app VssID.

The Hanoi Social Security Office will provide insurance holders with steps to install VssID-Digital Social Insurance, a mobile application of the Vietnam Social Security (VSS).

The move aims to ensure the implementation of social security for those enrolled in social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance in the city.

The VssID app, which is available on IOS and Android platforms, provides users with information on social insurance and health insurance mechanisms and policies, social insurance enrollment history, social insurance codes, medical facilities covered by social insurance as well as places for paying insurance premiums.

The application of VssID is a major step forwards in the VSS’s digital transformation process, General Director of VSS Nguyen The Manh said, adding that the VSS has joined hands with the Ministry of Health to pilot the app for local residents at 10 flood-hit Central localities who are covered by health insurance in an effort to replace paper health insurance card.

The Hanoi Social Security Office will disseminate and guide oficials, civil servants, employees,  and students in the city to download, register and use the VssID application.

People are instructed to access dichvucong.baohiemxahoi.gov.vn, fill the personal field to perform electronic transactions or register directly on the insurance app VssID.

After successful registration, print and sign their full name on the Form 1 and submit the Form 01 to the social insurance agency the applicant chose to sign up (enclosed with a copy of ID card) within 10 days.

If the application is valid, the social insurance agency will record it and the system will notify the individual password via phone message.

Secondly, after successful registration, insurance beneficiary people install and use the VssID application on each individual's mobile device.

On November 16, 2020, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc pressed the button to launch the VssID-Digital Social Insurance.

The app is a practical step in enhancing the administrative reform and IT application of the VSS, contributing to the national digital strategy and establishing an e-Government.

Vietnam’s coverage of health insurance increased by 1.3 times since 2015, covering nearly 33% of the labor force in 2020 while the proportion of people enrolled in health insurance rose from 76.5% in 2015 to 91% in 2020.

The VSS will continue integrating public services and online payment utilities into the app in line with ensuring cyber security and information confidentiality for users.
