Hanoi discusses visions for development until 2030

The revision of the Capital Law is an essential step to ensure a favorable environment for Hanoi’s development in the next 10 years and beyond, the Hanoi Party chief Dinh Tien Dung has said.

The Hanoi Party Committee today [February 23] held the seventh session to review the city’s development progress over the past 10 years and set goals until 2030.

According to the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung, delegates at the session would discuss major issues expected to have significant impacts on the development of Hanoi not only in the upcoming five years but also in the long term.

“Hanoi as the capital of Vietnam needs to realize its role as the growth driver for the Red River Delta and also of the country,” said Dung.

Among the key issues, members of the Committee would review recommendations on the revision of the Capital Law, for which Dung expected breakthroughs in mechanism and policies to ensure a favorable environment for Hanoi’s development in the next 10 years and beyond.

 Overview of the session.

“It is a key step for Hanoi to become the focal point of all resources and take a leading role in accelerating socio-economic development,” he continued.

Referring to the revised construction planning of Hanoi until 2030, with a vision to 2050, Dung highlighted the necessity to research the population forecast; the model of “city within a city” in the north and south of Hanoi; a new living space with Red River as the core area; developing urban areas alongside the Ring road No.4; and a second airport for the Hanoi metropolitan area in the south of Hanoi.

The seventh session is set to conclude tomorrow [February 24].
