Hanoi earmarks US$50 million for cultural park project

The project, to be completed by 2027, would contribute to the creation of a harmonious architectural and landscape axis.

Ha Dong District, Hanoi is set to allocate over VND1.25 trillion (US$48.5 million) for the development of a cultural park in the area.

The winning design features four squares located at the four main entrances to the park. The Tradition Square, covering an area of 17,300 square meters, serves as the centerpiece, representing the cultural heritage of the Xu Doai region. It depicts the legend of Son Tinh-Thuy Tinh and reflects the people's love for their country and their struggle for survival.

The square’s surface is adorned with images of nine-tusked elephants, nine-spurred roosters, and nine-maned horses. The gate, constructed with materials and colors that combine a touch of the classical (representing the passage of time) with modern elements, is balanced and harmonious, suitable for the large space of the central square and the Cau Do Road axis, an ancient landmark of the Ha Dong area.

Festival Square is planned for recreational activities, with surrounding spaces enhanced to provide open areas for children to engage in creative play and physical activities.

Memory Square is stylized with the forms, lines, and materials typical of ancient architecture, representing the unique culture of the Xu Doai region and the Northern Delta as a whole.

The design also includes a Water Pavilion and Cau Do Bridge, leading to an island. While the structures are modern, they are imbued with the cultural and historical spirit of the region.

The Public Service Square on the west side is connected to the Kite Gate, with the design affirming that the kite is a worthy symbol of recreational sports in urban life.
