Hanoi ensures safety for new academic year amid Covid-19 pandemic

Hanoi's Department of Education and Training has prepared the best conditions to welcome the 2020-2021 academic year to ensure safety for officials, teachers, staff, students as the Covid-19 pandemic has again been contained, Kinh Te & Do Thi reported.
A special new school year ceremony
The department has decided that this academic year will start on September 5 like in other years as the Covid-19 pandemic has been put under control.

This new school year ceremony will be the most special one ever. The municipal education department has asked schools across the city to carefully prepare for the new school year and the opening ceremony.
This new school year ceremony should last no more than 45 minutes, the department said, adding that educational institutions will have to strictly implement measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic in accordance with the protocols.
Social distancing measures and face mask wearing regulation have to be observed strictly, the department stressed.
Thoroughly implement epidemic prevention in schools
After the new school year ceremony, schools in Hanoi need to strictly implement measures for Covid-19 prevention during the school time.
Officials, teachers, staff, students and delegates with symptoms of cough, fever, and shortness of breath should not attend the schools’ opening ceremony. Parents should not be inside the school premises or gather in front of the school gates.
Schools continue to ask teachers, staff and students to raise their awareness in Covid-19 prevention and control in the new normal.
Besides, schools need to perform general cleaning and disinfection before the first day of the school year and maintain daily disinfection.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has also asked schools to coordinate with local health facilities to supervise health of teachers, staff and students to promptly detect Covid-19-suspected cases. All educational institutions are asked to require teachers, staff and students to make medical declarations before the first day of school.
In the school year of 2020-2021, 44 more schools have been built in the capital city, the number of students has increased by 67,594 year-on-year. Hanoi has 2,794 schools with more than two million students and remains the city with the largest number of students in Vietnam.
