The local authorities have worked with agencies in different localities where the patients had been to, Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung said at a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

The city spares no effort by inspecting, tracing contact, testing, and quarantining to curb the spread of the virus, said Dung, who is also head of the Hanoi’s Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

As of February 3, Hanoi reports 21 cases, all are linked to the Hai Duong and Quang Ninh, the epicenters of the Covid-19 resurgence.

The deputy chairman said the Hanoi’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has completed analyzing more than 17,000 samples, including nearly those of 700 people who made direct contact with the confirmed cases.

So far, all F1, referring to people who were directly exposed to the patients, are in quarantine while nearly 2,500 others who are linked with suspected cases are under home quarantine.

Due to complicated pandemic development, Hanoi has raised the alert level, closing all bars, karaoke lounges, game, Internet stores, limiting festivals, fining people without wearing face masks in public.

In another move, Secretary of the Hanoi Party’s Committee Vuong Dinh Hue asked the local government to impose proper measures against the pandemic, including social distancing and putting affected areas under lockdown when needed.
