The event, which is taking place at the National Architecture, Planning and Construction Exhibition from August 24 to 26, is one of the city’s efforts in the implementation of the target.

The fair, with a scale of 250 booths, has attracted a large number of domestic and foreign companies from Japan, China, Thailand, and Malaysia to participate in trade, connection, and product promotion activities.

Vietnam Industrial Electrical Joint Stock Company takes part in the fair for the first time displaying robotic products and automation systems. Director of the business Nguyen Phu Hong Lam said that the customers and participants in the fair were very qualified and of huge potential.

“We wish to meet and approach businesses who need to improve and modernize production lines,” he told The Hanoi Times.

“We always want to support businesses to connect trade with each other as well as expand their activities in different countries,” Director of the NC Network Vietnam Joint Stock Company Yasuo Uchihara told The Hanoi Times.  The company and its partner Factory Network Asia Group (FNA Group) have information network of nearly 40,000 manufacturing businesses in Japan, Vietnam, China, and Thailand.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Hanoi Supporting Industry Fair on August 24, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen emphasized it's a large-scale specialized fair on supporting industries that has been held annually since 2017.

Through the fair, businesses working in supporting industries will promote their capabilities and strengths, and find opportunities to join the supply chain in the capital economic area as well as in the global supply chain of multinational corporations.

Within the framework of the fair, a seminar on supporting industries in Hanoi will be held featuring three main topics including localization and adaptation of domestic enterprises, digital transformation in production, and innovation trends for businesses participating in global supply chains.

It is expected to find solutions and proposed policies to promote the development of supporting industries and industrial production sectors of the city and the whole country.

The city is now home to ten operational IPs covering a total area of nearly 1,350 ha. Of them, nine IPs with a combined area of 1,270 ha have an occupancy rate of nearly 100% each. As of December 2021, the city’s IPs lured nearly 165,000 workers, including 1,100 foreigners.

In the latest move, the city’s authorities have approved the supporting industry development program for the 2020-2025 period with the goal of increasing investment attraction and improving the capacity of supporting industries in Hanoi, according to Dam Tien Thang, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade.

Under the program, the city will form a supporting industry network, which will promote linkage among multinational corporations, manufacturing and assembly enterprises in Hanoi and nationwide, especially in the fields of automobile and motorbikes manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and mobile phones.

The city will enhance the investment of local enterprises in the Hanoi Southern Supporting Industrial Park, other industrial and high-tech zones, and industrial clusters in the area.

Especially, Hanoi will speed up the investment progress and complete the technical infrastructure of Hanoi Information Technology Park and industrial zones in Soc Son and Dong Anh districts.

According to Thang, this year, the city targets to have about 920 enterprises operating in the supporting industries. Of which, there will be about 300 enterprises owning international-standard production systems and products, which are able of taking part in the global production network of multinational corporations in Vietnam.

Hanoi expects the production value of supporting industries to account for about 16% of the total value of the city’s processing and manufacturing industry. The development index of supporting industries will increase by over 11% annually.
