Hanoi farmers harvest rice under scorching heat

Under the sun up to 40 degrees Celsius, farmers in the outskirts of Hanoi are busy harvesting rice to keep up with the progress of the new crop - the second one of this year.

On the last days of May, the paddy fields in Sai Son commune, Quoc Oai district, Hanoi turn to be golden yellow, signaling a harvest season is about to begin.

The scorching heats came too early this summer, right at harvest time which makes the work of the farmers harder. The blazing sunlight raises the outdoor temperatures to 42 degrees Celsius at noon.
