Hanoi gives special affection to relations with Cambodia

Hanoi has been supporting Phnom Penh in building major projects, which are seen as symbols of the two cities' strong relations.

In Hanoi’s vast network of ties with cities around the world, Cambodian localities always hold a special place, especially the capital city of Phnom Penh, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung stressed the view during a meeting with Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Chay Navuth on April 21.

“Hanoi has been supporting Phnom Penh in building major projects with significant social impacts, which are seen as a symbol for the strong relations between the two capitals,” Dung added.

According to Dung, Vietnam and Cambodia maintain long-standing relations, which have been nurtured through generations of leaders and people from both sides.

Over the recent years, bilateral relations continue to progress strongly in all spheres amid the severe consequences of the pandemic.

“Vietnam and Cambodia have been in close cooperation in Covid-19 response and gained positive results in containing the pandemic situation in each country,” he added.

 Overview of the meeting.

On the upcoming trip to Cambodia under the invitation of Phnom Penh’s Governor Khuong Sreng, Dung said it is significant on the occasion of the 55th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic relations.

Dung expressed his thanks to the Cambodian Embassy in Vietnam and the ambassador in the preparation for the visit, expecting this to be a successful trip.

The Hanoi party chief expected the ambassador to continue serving as a bridge in promoting bilateral relations and also between Hanoi and other localities in Cambodia.

In this regard, Ambassador Chay Navuth said Dung’s visit to Phnom Penh would contribute to the strong relations between the two capitals, and also between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Navuth said he is committed to further promoting the relations between the two countries for mutual benefits.
