Hanoi has new party chief

Dung was elected to Politburo, the country’s most powerful body, in January 2021.

Dinh Tien Dung, Minister of Finance, is appointed to be the secretary of Hanoi Party Committee  following the decision of the Poliburo of the Communist Party’s Central Committee.

His predecessor Vuong Dinh Hue was elected Chairman of the National Assembly, the country’s highest legislative body, on March 31.

Tomorrow [April 3], the municipal committee will hold a meeting to announce the decision of the Politburo.

Dung, 60, born in the northern province of Ninh Binh, holds degrees in economics and business administration. Since 2013, he held the post of Finance Minister.

Prior to the position, he worked as General State Auditor of Vietnam State Audit, Secretary of the Ninh Binh Party Committee, Chairman of the Dien Bien People’s Committee, and Deputy Minister of Construction.
