Hanoi helps firms boost sales

Many promotion programs are designed in Hanoi to raise the visibility of Vietnamese products while achieving the twin goals of economic growth and social stability.

THE HANOI TIMES — The Hanoi Concentrated Promotion Month of 2025, taking place in July and November, aims to support businesses in selling Vietnamese goods while creating a platform that connects manufacturers with direct and online distribution systems.

Nguyen The Hiep, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said the campaign features a digital transformation space themed “Touch Technology, Live Smart,” where visitors can experience cashless consumption through app-based shopping, QR code payments, online flash sales, digital payment device trials, and AI-powered applications.

"These activities will help change consumers’ habits and promote e-commerce and digital consumption," said Hiep.

Expected discounts of over 50% from around 2,000 participating enterprises are anticipated to boost consumer demand, promote the circulation of Vietnamese goods, increase total retail sales, and support economic development.

The official stressed that the Hanoi Concentrated Promotion Month 2025 will feature a series of diverse activities with renewed promotional schemes designed to better engage consumers and help businesses promote sales and reduce inventory.

As part of the program, the "Hanoi Midnight Sale 2025" will be held on November 28 and offer significant discounts. "This will be a special event coinciding with the global shopping festival, Black Friday. It aims to boost production, trade, services, and tourism in the capital," Hiep told The Hanoi Times.

It also promotes the use of modern technology in business operations by connecting with banking systems and smart electronic payment wallets, encouraging the development of e-commerce. "This initiative aims to unleash the potential of Hanoi's night economy and create a vibrant shopping and entertainment environment," said the deputy director.

The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has urged businesses to ensure they have a sufficient supply of quality products at reasonable prices with clear origins, while promoting civilized trade practices.

Hanoi has planned additional activities to stimulate consumption and trade, including the November Promotion Festival, the Consumer Goods and Products Fair, the Hanoi Safe Agricultural and Food Products Fair, the Fruit and Agricultural Products Week from other provinces and cities in Hanoi, and the Hanoi Green Products for Consumers 2025 Fair.

Requiring strong business participation

As an active supporter of Hanoi’s consumer stimulation campaigns, Hanoi Consumer Goods Import-Export and Retail Co., Ltd, is taking part in this year's program once again.

The company's head of marketing, Do Quang Thuan, stated that its retail network will launch a series of promotions offering discounts of up to 50% on thousands of products to enhance the shopping experience for residents.

“Consumer behavior has changed significantly, so we are implementing promotional campaigns both in-store and online, while ensuring stable supply chains for both formats. We are committed to providing consumers with high-quality goods in large volumes at discounts of up to 50%,” Thuan said.

Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Vice President of the Vietnam Retailers Association, said the domestic market is large enough to absorb Vietnamese goods. Therefore, Hanoi's Concentrated Promotion Month 2025 helps promote consumption in the last months of the year, when purchasing power increases.

Lan said that in addition to commercial stimulation activities, the 2025 program will also focus on promoting cashless consumption and encouraging businesses to adopt digital payments, QR codes, and e-wallets. "This will diversify payment methods and contribute to the effective implementation of the national digital transformation program and the development of a smart capital city,” Lan told The Hanoi Times.

Maximizing promotion program

According to Nguyen The Hiep of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, they received some 15,000 promotional registrations from nearly 1,000 businesses in 2024 alone, during the promotional months of May, July, and November. These businesses covered sectors such as food, consumer goods, fashion, pharmaceuticals, and electronics.

This year, the department will implement a quantitative evaluation system to measure the program's actual impact. "Specifically, we will track the number of consumers participating in events via QR code check-ins, measure the transition rate to cashless transactions at booths, and record the average revenue growth of participating businesses," said Hiep.

"These indicators will serve as an important data foundation for assessing the program’s reach and overall effectiveness. Implementing a quantitative indicator system facilitates progress monitoring and supports policy and organizational adjustments to enhance performance in upcoming years,” the official stressed.

With a wide series of engaging activities, promotional events and trade promotion efforts tied to the development of Vietnamese brands, Hiep hoped that the Hanoi Concentrated Promotion Program 2025 will effectively connect production with consumption, stimulate domestic demand, and help the city achieve its Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth target of 8% or more.
