Hanoi honored in four major TripAdvisor Awards 2026

Hanoi has been named in four categories of TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations 2026 awards, highlighting the capital’s broad and sustained appeal to international travelers.

THE HANOI TIMES The city ranked fourth among the Top 25 World’s Leading Destinations. It placed seventh in both the World’s Leading Cultural Destinations and World’s Leading Solo Travel Destinations categories and 11th among the World’s Leading Culinary Destinations.

The multiple recognitions reflect Hanoi’s diverse strengths, from heritage and architecture to food and independent travel experiences.

“The charming Vietnamese capital has aged well-preserving the Old Quarter, monuments and colonial architecture while making room for modern developments. Lakes, parks, shady boulevards and more than 600 temples and pagodas add to the appeal of this city, which is easily explored by taxi,” TripAdvisor wrote.

“Through countless ups and downs over time, bearing many different names, the thousand-year-old capital city has never forgotten its glorious history,” it noted.

Hanoi’s key landmarks include the Temple of Literature or the first-ever National University of Vietnam, the Old Quarter, St. Joseph’s Cathedral, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

Ancient temples and pagodas remain closely tied to the spiritual life of residents. Traditional craft villages, museums and community cultural spaces further enrich the city’s cultural landscape.

Cuisine remains one of Hanoi’s strongest draws. The capital is known for refined flavors, careful preparation and a focus on fresh local ingredients.

From street food stalls to contemporary restaurants, the city offers a wide culinary range, where each dish reflects elements of local history and daily life.

The awards also recognized tourism services connected to Hanoi. Tripadvisor suggested visitors “swap the hustle of Hanoi for a day filled with natural beauty, education, and adventure on a Full-Day Ninh Binh Highlights Tour.”

“You’ll get to enjoy hiking, cycling, and cruising around the picturesque local village, with ample photo opportunities at scenic spots. The tour delivers a blend of physical activity and is guided by a knowledgeable and engaging guide,” it wrote.

The Full-Day Ninh Binh Highlights Tour from Hanoi ranked second in the “Best of the Best Things to Do” list.

In dining, Rhythms Restaurant in Hoan Kiem Ward ranked 13th among the world’s “Best of the Best Restaurants.”

“Blending authentic Vietnamese and international cuisines, The Rhythms Restaurant is a charming spot in the busy city of Hanoi. The menu highlights pork, fish and beef but it’s the restaurant's beautiful architecture and lovely view that really make it a must-visit,” TripAdvisor commented.

La Siesta Classic Ma May Hanoi Hotel was named among the “Best of the Best Hotels” in the Top category. GM Premium Hotel was listed in the “Treat Yourself” category and La Sinfonía Majesty Hotel & Spa was recognized in the “Small & Boutique” category.

Earlier, Hanoi was named Asia’s Leading City Destination and Asia’s Leading City Destination for Short Stays at the World Travel Awards 2025, reinforcing its position on the regional tourism map.

In 2025, Hanoi was estimated to welcome more than 33.7 million visitors, up 20.87% from 2024. International arrivals were projected at 7.82 million, while domestic visitors were expected to reach 25.88 million. Tourism revenue was forecast at VND134.46 trillion (US$5.18 billion), up 21.5% year-on-year.

TripAdvisor’s annual Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best awards are based on reviews and ratings collected worldwide over a 12-month period.
