The honorees were selected from more than 130,000 teachers across the city.

The award not only brings glory, but also emphasizes the responsibility of teachers," said Tran The Cuong, Director of Hanoi's Department of Education and Training.

"Our educators are constantly reminded to build on their strengths, remain creative, and grow as individuals, which is the award's most significant accomplishment," he said. “Such value endures and is the true essence of this recognition.”

Teachers must serve as the main contributors to the progress of the education sector and share responsibility with society, the director said.

They play a crucial role in building happy schools, which is in line with the city's ongoing efforts to complete its UNESCO application to join the global network of Learning Cities, Cuong added.

The Dedicated and Creative Teacher Award has been presented annually for the past eight years to recognize teachers for their passion, dedication, and remarkable contributions to the industry.

Teachers through students’ eyes

On the same day, the winners of the fifth annual "Teachers Through the Eyes of Students" contest were announced.

The contest recognized and celebrated teachers who have a positive influence on students, inspiring and motivating them. It also provided an opportunity for students to express their gratitude and admiration for their beloved teachers.

The contest, open to middle and high school students throughout the city, invited entries in the form of short videos, each no longer than five minutes in length.

Eight months into the contest, more than 1,000 entries were submitted, with 418 qualifying for the final round. Organizers awarded one grand prize, 10 first prizes, 20 second prizes and 39 third prizes.

The grand prize went to the video "Spreading Love" by class 8A0 of Kim Giang Secondary School in Thanh Xuan District, a tribute to their class teacher.

The top entries were also submitted to the Vietnam National Education Union's nationwide competition, with Hanoi entries accounting for more than 50% of the submissions.

This year's "Dedicated and Creative Teacher" Award and "Teachers Through the Eyes of Students" contest are among the key activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Hanoi Education Department (1954-2024) and the 42nd anniversary of Vietnam's Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024).
