Hanoi honors 80 exemplary figures in patriotic emulation

Eighty individuals and groups with strong and comprehensive performances in patriotic emulation movements have delivered important results and contributed to building a prosperous, civilized and modern Hanoi.

THE HANOI TIMES — The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi on September 30 commended 80 exemplary individuals and groups for outstanding achievements in patriotic emulation, governance, community development, social welfare and economic growth.

Among them was Pham Ngoc Thao, Head of the Democracy and Law Advisory Council under the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, recognized for his role in policymaking, social feedback and supervision.

At the ceremony, Thao stressed the central role of democracy and the rule of law in improving emulation.

He explained that democracy enables citizens to exercise ownership and participate directly, while the law provides a framework to ensure organization, transparency and discipline.

According to him, this combination keeps the movements aligned with the Party’s guidelines while remaining close to daily life.

Another honoree was Nguyen Hien Phuong, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Ba Trung Ward, who has effectively directed community self-management models that made the ward more civilized and cleaner.

She said that the trust and support of the people have given her strength to stay committed to her work.

“What inspires me most is the affection of the people. Thanks to that, I can mobilize, persuade and gather collective strength so that each emulation movement becomes a shared effort,” Phuong said.

In the production sector, Hoang Van Mot, Director of Bai Thuong Organic Agricultural Cooperative in Noi Bai Commune, said that patriotic emulation means each person doing their part well and spreading positive values.

For more than 15 years of developing organic agriculture, he has encouraged 20 members to switch to organic farming, overcome initial hardships and prove the health and quality benefits of their products.

In her address, Nguyen Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, congratulated and praised the 80 honorees.

“This is both a great honor and a profound responsibility for each individual towards the organization and themselves,” she said, adding that it is also a source of encouragement for greater achievements.

Huong also launched the patriotic emulation movement for 2025–2030.

She called on all levels of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, its member organizations and every cadre, Party member, youth union member and association member to uphold revolutionary traditions, responsibility, solidarity and creativity.

According to Pham Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, the strong and comprehensive development of patriotic emulation has delivered important results and contributed to building a prosperous, civilized and modern capital.

The most notable achievement in Hanoi is the campaign “All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas.” By the end of 2024, all communes in Hanoi had met new rural standards, with many reaching advanced model status.

Hanoi also leads the nation in the One Commune, One Product (OCOP) Program, with more than 3,400 certified products, accounting for 21% of the country’s total.

More than 3,500 community self-management models on environment, security, mediation and clean, green streets have been carried out, strengthening social ties.

In addition, the “For the Poor” Fund raised VND403 billion ($15.2 million) to build about 5,400 Great Solidarity houses and support education, livelihoods and healthcare for tens of thousands of households. By early 2025, Hanoi no longer had poor households, with only 0.43% classified as near-poor.
