Hanoi honors exemplary teachers as Vietnam Teachers' Day approaches

Vietnam Teachers' Day is an occasion to thank outstanding educators for tireless efforts.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a ceremony to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Vietnam Teachers' Day [November 20, 1982-2022], paying tribute to outstanding teachers working in the city's education sector.

This annual activity honors Hanoian teachers who have dedicated themselves to their careers and made outstanding contributions to the sector's development.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong stressed that this is an occasion to express gratitude and respect for the teachers' contributions to the community and nurturing students.

Cuong said that in the 2022-2023 school year, Hanoi will have more than 2,800 preschools and secondary and vocational schools with more than 2.2 million students. "The network of schools has been expanded, and facilities have been synchronously upgraded to the modern standard. The entire sector has more than 150,000 officials, teachers, and employees, meeting the requirements of educational innovation tasks," he added.

"Over the past five years, Hanoi students have won 675 national awards and 82 medals in international Olympic competitions. At present, Hanoi is one of the first four localities nationwide to be recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training for meeting the standard of universalizing lower secondary education," the director said.

He emphasized the role of teachers and asked them to promote good qualities and maintain examples and efforts to complete their missions with excellence.
