Nine people in various sectors are named with the title of exemplary citizens for their great contributions to the capital city.
Nine Hanoians working in various areas have been honored as “Excellent Citizens of the Capital” for making extraordinary contributions to the development of the capital city.
They were present at a ceremony to commend typical examples from the “Good people and Good deeds” movement, as well as exemplary citizens in 2021, which was held on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2021) by the city’s Party Committee, People's Committee and Vietnamese Fatherland Front.

One of those excellent citizens is professor Truong Hoang Chuong, Director of the Institute for Research on Conservation and Promotion of National Culture under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations. For making voluminous researches and great contributions to the preservation and promotion of Vietnamese national culture and Hanoi, he was awarded the second-class Labor Medal by President Tran Duc Luong in 2000, the first-class Labor Medal in 2005, the Labor Hero title in 2020, and many other distinctions from ministerial-level agencies and public organizations.

Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, a former member of the Party Central Committee and former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee is also honored this time. She has a career of 41 years in Hanoi, of which for nearly 20 years Hang held key leadership positions and made important contributions to the construction and development of the capital city. She was awarded the first-class Labor Medal by the Party and State in 2019 and the third-class Labor Medal three times. She also received Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister twice and many commendations from State organizations for her contributions.

The Hanoi's government also commended Most Venerable Thich Bao Nghiem, Head of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Hanoi, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. He has actively joined monks, nuns, Buddhist followers, and people to participate in emulation movements and campaigns to help build a rich, beautiful and civilized capital. He was awarded the medal of Great National Unity by the President in 2011, the Third-Class Labor Medal in 2017, three Certificates of Merit in 2007, 2008, 2011; badge for the capital construction in 2018, among many other awards.

Associate professor, Doctor and People’s Doctor Hoang Duc Hanh, former Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Health is honored this time. He has contributed to the development of the capital’s health sector, advising the city authority to successfully control many dangerous pandemic outbreaks in the capital city. He was awarded the title of People's Doctor by the Party and State, excellent doctor, third-class Labor Medal in 2021, two Certificates of Merit in 2015 and 2021, and so on.

Doctor Le Thi Quynh Mai, Deputy Director of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology is also praised as an exemplary citizen of Hanoi. She has conducted many types of research on new viral infectious diseases, thereby contributing to the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic in the capital and the whole country. She received international awards like the Asian Young Scientist Award 2009 and the Kovalevskaia Prize in 2019 as well as local Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister.

Phan Thi Binh, a resident of Hoang Liet ward, Hoang Mai district is the capital’s outstanding citizen this year. For 21 years, she has participated in volunteer activities to help people in difficult situations, especially during the outbreaks of the Covid-19 pandemic in the capital and the whole country.
She was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister and became a delegate of Hanoi to participate in the 10th National Patriotic Emulation Congress in 2020. She was also given the title of “Good people and Good deeds” by the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee in 2019.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Minh Hai, a member of the Criminal Investigation Department of Social Order under Hanoi City Police is the capital’s exemplary man of the law. For solving many major criminal cases, he was awarded the third-class Victory Medal by the President in 2015, the Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister in 2016, and many Certificates of Merit from the city People's Committee.

Phan Thi Thuan is another outstanding citizen of Hanoi who is Director of My Duc Mulberry Silk Company, a member of Farmers’ Association in Phung Xa Commune, My Duc District. For playing a key role in the restoration of the traditional silk weaving village of the capital and the country, she was conferred the title “Excellent Artisan” by the President of Vietnam, the Vietnam Women’s Award, and many Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam Farmers' Association and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam.

Twelfth grader Nguyen Manh Quan from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School is the youngest outstanding citizen of Hanoi. He has won many international awards, such as the gold medal at the 2018 International Youth Science Olympiad, a gold medal at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics 2019, and a gold medal at the 2020 European Physics Olympiad. He is granted a scholarship from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
