Hanoi hopes to cooperate with France in urban transport and infrastructure

Hanoi has continuously promoted cooperation expansion with French cities and striven to become a model of cooperation between the two countries’ localities.

Hanoi hopes to cooperate with France in developing urban transport and infrastructure, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said while hosting Stephanie Do, a French National Assembly deputy cum head of the France – Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group in Hanoi on July 15.

Chung emphasized that the Vietnamese people in general and Hanoians in particular are delighted with the expanding cooperation between the two countries over the years.

For decentralized relations among localities, in recent years, Hanoi has continuously promoted cooperation expansion with French cities and striven to become a model of cooperation between the two countries’ localities, Chung added.

Regarding the Nhon-Hanoi Railway Station urban railway line, the mayor said that Hanoi and the French embassy discussed accelerating the project. The city is determined to put the first phase of the project into operation in 2020.

In the time ahead, Hanoi hopes to expand collaboration with France’s localities in the field of infrastructure development for cultural and social purposes. Hanoi also wishes to learn experience from the French side in enhancing the start-up ecosystem and dealing with environmental pollution and waste, he stressed.

The city leader wished Stephanie Do’s visit a success, contributing to the development of the France Vietnam relations as well as the partnership between Hanoi and French localities.

For her part, Stephanie Do appreciated Hanoi’s development in the recent years, expressing her delight at the cooperative ties between the city and France’s localities in such field as urban transport, environment and infrastructure.

The partnership has resulted in many projects which are underway such as the Nhon-Hanoi Railway Station urban railway line and the international market of agricultural products in Hanoi, Stephanie Do noted.
