Hanoi hosts 200-delegate forum to strengthen international tourism recovery

A Hanoi tourism forum next week will outline concrete measures to attract more international visitors as the city works toward its goal of welcoming 8.6 million foreign arrivals in 2026.

THE HANOITIMES — About 200 delegates will gather on December 17 for a forum in Hanoi aimed at turning proposed tourism solutions into concrete actions to attract more international visitors.

The event, titled “Turning Solutions into Action to Attract More International Visitors to Hanoi,” is hosted by the Hanoi Department of Tourism at the Grand Vista Hanoi Hotel.

The event follows the directives of the Government, the Hanoi Party Committee and the municipal People’s Committee on restoring growth, boosting tourism promotion and meeting the city’s target of welcoming 8.6 million international visitors in 2026.

Participants include representatives from the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the Hanoi People’s Committee, provincial tourism departments, professional associations, travel companies, airlines, destinations, experts and media organizations.

As destination competition grows stronger, the forum offers the tourism sector a chance to review challenges in attracting foreign visitors and discuss solutions that can create real impact.

Organizers have structured the program around three thematic discussions. One group will discuss on cooperation between inbound tour operators and online platforms to expand international markets and develop inter-regional tourism products.

Another group will focus on applying digital tools in global promotion and using KOLs and KOCs to increase Hanoi’s visibility.

A third group will explore community-based and green tourism, ways to improve tour guide quality and opportunities to strengthen Hanoi’s signature cultural experiences.

Through these discussions, government agencies, businesses and international organizations can build a sustainable cooperation ecosystem.

A plenary session will summarize all recommendations and introduce solutions to improve product quality, modernize promotion methods and attract more international travelers.

A cooperation signing ceremony on inbound tourism routes between the Hanoi Tourism Association and the tourism associations of Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, Bac Ninh and Tuyen Quang will serve as a key highlight. This partnership aims to strengthen inter-provincial linkages and build competitive tourism service chains.

Beyond annual promotion efforts, the forum carries important value for Hanoi’s socio-economic development goals. It creates an open platform for stakeholders to exchange data, share experience and introduce new approaches that support international tourism recovery and advance the city’s innovation agenda.

The Hanoi Department of Tourism expects the forum to generate momentum for making Hanoi a leading regional destination and promoting the capital as a dynamic, safe, friendly and culturally rich city in the eyes of global travelers.
