Hanoi hosts Shining Full Moon program

The mid-autumn program will run until September 27.

A mid-autumn program with the theme “The Shining Full Moon” is underway at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, Hanoi to promote the traditional values.

The Mid-autumn Festival, also known as children’s festival or moon-gazing festival, takes place on fifteenth day of the eight-lunar month when the moon is roundest and brightest. The program is celebrated for children with entertainment activities.

Paper effigies of Confucian scholars are placed in the center of the banquet table, expressing Vietnamese people's wish for their children's academic success, along with eye-catching cakes, mooncakes, fruits and toys.
The table of feast arranged in the traditional way included lotus wine, green rice, Vietnamese ham with periwinkle snails and fish salad.
Children who participate in the program make traditional moon cakes and toys, such as paper lanterns and star-shaped lanterns, as well as paint folk paper masks, join attractive traditional games and enjoy lion dance.
