The French politician expected to stimulate cooperation with Hanoi in the sector given the fact that Hanoi is a metropolis not only in Vietnam but also in the Southeast Asia region.

Global cities have attempted to upgrade their water supply systems to respond to climate change issues, he said.

The International Water Suppliers Club is willing to work with Hanoi to resolve existing and potential problems, the French senator added.

In his part, Hanoi’s vice chairman Duong Duc Tuan expressed his gladness to see an enhanced relationship with the north-central French region.

The two sides have expanded cooperation to multiple sectors such as urban management, public transport, environment, heritage conservation, and tourism, he said.

“Both governments are willing to cooperate in environment and sustainability, urban planning, economic growth, and research and development,” the Hanoi vice chairman said.

“Further cooperation in the sector will meet the demand on both sides and deepen the two’s decentralized relations.”

Hanoi expects to explore new opportunities and solutions in clean water supplies and water management under the partnerships with Ile-de-France region and the International Water Suppliers Club, as clean water supply is one of Hanoi’s priorities in sustainable city development, he added.

Vice chairman Tuan also tasked the departments of Construction and Foreign Affairs, and the Hanoi Water Ltd Co to advise the municipal government about the chance to join the International Water Suppliers Club.
