Hanoi intensifies cooperation with AFD in multiple areas

The chairman of the Hanoi People`s Committee hoped that Hanoi will learn French cities’ experiences in building a smart and sustainable city.

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung met with Rémy Rioux, chief executive of the French Development Agency (AFD), in the capital city on November 3 to discuss potential cooperation between the two sides.

The meeting was part of the official visit by French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe to Vietnam between November 2 and 4..

At the meeting, the chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee thanked AFD for supporting the capital through numerous activities and projects.

Reviewing a number of bilateral cooperation projects in the period 2017-2018, Chairman Chung expressed hope that AFD will continue to support Hanoi in the coming projects, such as finding capital to complete the urban railway No.3 project, deploying the project of air quality monitoring station, building start-ups ecosystem and so on.

In particular, the chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee hoped that through AFD, Hanoi will learn French cities’ experiences in building a smart and sustainable city.

AFD Chief Executive Rémy Rioux agreed with the cooperation projects proposed by Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung, and stressed that those projects are proof of the close relationship between AFD and Hanoi, and they play a vital role in the capital’s development.

Rémy Rioux stressed that AFD is keen on executing these projects and would like to continue to discuss about it with the Hanoi’s authority in the time ahead.
