Hanoi intensifies efforts against human trafficking
Hanoi is launching a comprehensive set of activities to mark the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and Vietnam's National Day Against Human Trafficking on July 30.
THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi has detailed the response activities for the 2025 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and Vietnam's National Day Against Human Trafficking.
The city will emphasize widespread and effective campaigns, particularly those aimed at combating domestic human trafficking and scams that lure people to work abroad under false pretenses.
Key objectives include intensifying crackdowns on criminals, supporting victims, organizing events around the slogan "Human Trafficking is Organized Crime - End Exploitation," and honoring those have made outstanding contributions to the fight against trafficking.

The city authorities have set up five core task groups to carry out the plan by responsible for strict enforcement on human trafficking prevention, for handling of trafficking crimes, and effectively implementing relevant international treaties.
A citywide campaign, led by the Hanoi Police Department and running from July 1 to September 30, will focus on investigating and prosecuting trafficking crimes.
The Capital Command will raise awareness within its ranks and assist in protecting victims, and the city's Health Department will prioritize supporting victims, especially children.
Meanwhile, Hanoi's Department of Home Affairs will scrutinize labor export centers to prevent exploitation under the guise of overseas employment. The city's Department of Education and Training will enhance legal education and awareness for students.
The cultural and tourism sectors have also been mobilized. The Department of Culture and Sports will incorporate anti-trafficking messages into cultural activities. The Tourism Department will inspect accommodations to detect trafficking disguised as tourism.
Hanoi Radio and Television will broadcast documentaries, talk shows, and news features to raise public awareness. Local communes and wards are responsible for community-level outreach, supporting victims, and collecting data.
These efforts dovetail with Hanoi's vigorous implementation of the 2024 Anti-Human Trafficking Law, as outlined in Plan No. 133/KH-UBND, issued in May. The plan has two main pillars: reviewing and systematizing existing legal documents to align them with the new law and extensively disseminating the law's provisions starting in 2025.
These measures aim to strengthen the city's fight against human trafficking through coordinated legal action, public awareness, and victim support.
