Hanoi kicks off Digital Transformation Day

Over the past two years, the city has made significant progress in its digital transformation efforts.

A campaign to promote National Digital Transformation Day and Hanoi's Digital Transformation Day was launched on October 8 by the Hanoi Department of Information and Communication in cooperation with the Nam Tu Liem District People's Committee.

Ha Minh Hai, Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, urged members of the community digital transformation teams to mentor locals in using services and applications to promote a digital economy and society.

He added that team members will continue assisting residents in navigating the digital transition by offering digital skills training for workers, students, and schoolchildren. This effort aims to cultivate a generation of citizens who can adapt to technology and actively shape their future.

In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the capital, the city introduced the "Three Readiness" initiative, including readiness to use smartphones, connect to the Internet and install the iHanoi app; readiness for digital identification and bank account registration; and readiness to acquire technology skills, ensure information security and promote online culture. The initiative also emphasizes a commitment to lifelong learning and innovation, Hai said.

The Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee reported that over the past two years, the city has made significant progress in its digital transformation efforts.

He added that the implementation of digital governance has been robust, with 100% of eligible public services now available online in stages three and four. This initiative has enabled residents and businesses to access public services quickly and transparently through the online service system, with over 2.5 million online applications successfully processed.

Hanoi also successfully piloted electronic health records and issued criminal record certificates through the VneID platform, laying the groundwork for nationwide implementation by the government. In addition, cashless social security and pension payments have been effectively rolled out, reaching over 90% penetration, according to the report.

Hai emphasized that an outstanding achievement is the development and launch of the "iHaNoi" app, which has become an efficient online interaction platform between residents, businesses and the city government.

Nearly 5,000 technology firms are active in Hanoi's digital economy, with e-commerce revenue increasing by 40% compared to 2023. Over 90% of large enterprises have adopted cashless payment, improving efficiency, while electronic tax filing and payment compliance has reached 99%.

On the social front, nearly 5,000 community digital transformation teams with more than 30,000 members are actively working to integrate digital solutions into every neighborhood and bring digital services directly to residents.

With over 60% of the working-age population having received basic digital literacy training, a solid foundation has been laid for the development of an intelligent digital citizenry.

"Hanoi is prioritizing the application of digital technology to urgent issues to directly benefit residents," the Deputy Chairman emphasized.

Do Thi Thuy Ha, Deputy Chairwoman of Nam Tu Liem District, announced that the district has trained 100% of the municipal digital transformation team members in digital skills, including cashless social security payments, established cashless streets, and developed a 4.0 market model along with modern one-stop administrative services.

In particular, the district has successfully implemented the "Digital Transformation Rental House Model" in Phuong Canh Ward. This initiative automates management tasks for boarding house owners while assisting tenants in finding suitable accommodation. It also enables local police to monitor population movements effectively.

Landlords can manage tenants, track room availability, and generate leases through a mobile app. Each rental property is assigned a unique QR code, allowing tenants to easily register and check out. This streamlines the process with local authorities and reduces paperwork, as the system is automatically updated when tenants move out.

"The model serves as a promising example for future expansion throughout the district," she said.

Nguyen Viet Hung, Director of Hanoi's Department of Information and Communication, underscored the city's commitment to strengthening digital transformation efforts to achieve practical results for the capital's economic and social development, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents.

During the launch ceremony, city leaders and representatives kicked off the "Exploring Every Alley, Knocking on Doors: Guiding Every Resident to Digital Empowerment."
