Hanoi launches first-ever international art photo contest

The first international art photo contest aims to look for excellent works depicting the beauty of the people, landscape, history and culture in Hanoi.

The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports on October 18 launched an international art photo contest themed “Proud of Hanoi”.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists Vu Quang Khanh said that the first international art photo contest aims to look for excellent works depicting the beauty of the people, landscape, history and culture in Hanoi.
According to the organizing board, all photo entries should focus on the new look of Hanoi after more than 30 years of renovation. Vietnamese citizens and foreigners are eligible to participate in the competition by submitting single photos or photo collections featuring Hanoi’s beauty and life.
Entries should be sent to website:  or by June 30, 2019. An awarding ceremony and exhibition are expected to take place in Ly Thai To statue square, Hanoi from October 1 to 10, 2019.
Economic and Urban newspaper in collaboration with the Hanoi Elderly Photographers Club and Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Center of Scientific and Cultural Activities on October 9 opened to the public a photo exhibition titled “Hanoi in me - 2018” with theme of “Craft villages and streets” at the Temple of Literature.
The 13th “Hanoi in me” photo exhibition showcased 80 authentic and lively photos featuring artisans’ portraits, working life and daily activities in Hanoi`s craft villages. The event as part of activities to celebrate the 64th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation day (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2018).
“Hanoi in me” is an annual exhibition held by the Economic and Urban newspaper in coordination with the Hanoi Elderly Photographers Club. With 12 events over the last 12 years, the event has become a gathering point of photography and Hanoi lovers every October.
