Hanoi Library completes renovation with support from South Korea

Renovated Hanoi Library will provide a modern space, helping promote reading culture in the capital.

On April 18, the Hanoi Library in co-operation with COPION Organization (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea) inaugurated the project to renovate the library to make it more modern.  

With the funding of VND44 billion (US$1.9 million) from South Korea, the Hanoi Library has new reading rooms, more equipment, furniture, books, and newspapers. In addition, COPION also helped to train librarians.

Speaking at the inauguration, Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee highly appreciated the project as it supports and improves the use of utilities in the Hanoi Library.

“The project helps build a cultural space where people can enjoy books, thus supporting cultural exchange; information look-up and improving the quality of life for all classes of people in the capital,” said Ha.

Ha added that the Hanoi Library will become a creative space to incubate creative talents. This is also an opportunity for Hanoi Library to boost the reading culture in the trend of globalization, application of information technology and transformation from the traditional library to the modern one.

"I believe that the implementation of exchanges and cooperation in many fields, especially in the cultural field, will strengthen the friendship between the two peoples and contribute to the consolidated and sustainable development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea," Ha said.

Tran Tuan Anh, Director of the Hanoi Library was delighted to see the project completed and ready for use. It will provide a modern cultural space complex for the infrastructure of the Hanoi Library and help improve the quality of facilities and human resources in management and operation.
