The rapid technological advance will help the city develop new adaptation strategies to optimize the use of resources and energy, cope with challenges, work together to solve problems in larger scale and in a more comprehensive and timely way. Therefore, smart urban development is identified as an effective solution to promote sustainable urban development.
During his official visit to Singapore, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong agreed to select three cities of Vietnam namely Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang to join ASEAN’s network of cities.
According to experts, Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular lack a lot of elements and policies to develop smart cities.
The workshop was an opportunity for Hanoi’s authority to listen to the innovations, applications and practical experiences in smart urban construction from the developed countries in the world.
Thereby, Hanoi and other cities throughout the country will improve policies to promote the development of smart cities that match Vietnam’s reality.
