Hanoi not to discriminate foreigners as Covid-19 epidemic spreads: Mayor

The Hanoi mayor requested the Department of Health to keep closely monitoring passengers at Noi Bai International Airport in order to detect suspected cases timely.

Hanoi should not discriminate foreigners and people coming from mountainous provinces bordering with China as the new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) epidemic evolves with uncertainty, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said at a recent online meeting.

At the meeting, Mayor Chung also instructed localities and the municipal Department of Health to actively take measures to curb the Covid-19 outbreak.

Chung appreciated the work of Covid-19 outbreak prevention in localities, and especially commended the Hanoi Department of Health for drastically implementing the guidelines and instructions of the Ministry of Health in preventing the epidemic.

He requested the Department of Health to keep closely monitoring passengers at Noi Bai International Airport in order to detect suspected cases timely.

The city’s heath sector needs to coordinate with Hanoi Police to arrange isolation areas for people who come back from the epidemic regions.

Besides, the department is asked to coordinate with Vinh Phuc province to update the list of people suspected of nCov infection and those infected with the virus for supervision, isolation and treatment during their stay in Hanoi.

Districts’ leaders should ask all schools to conduct the another disinfection round by February 16 and prepare dry hand sanitizers at the doors of each classroom to prevent Covid-19 spread.

As of February 14, Vietnam has reported 16 cases of nCoV infection, none of them is found in Hanoi.
