Hanoi Metro extends service hours for National Day celebrations

Hanoi Metro adjusts holiday schedule with longer service hours and more trains to ease passenger flow and support cultural events.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi Metro will extend operating hours on the Cat Linh–Ha Dong and Nhon–Cau Giay lines to handle surging passenger demand during the upcoming National Day holiday.

From August 21 to 29, trains on both lines will run from 5:30 a.m. until midnight, two hours later than usual. Services will depart every 6 to 10 minutes, with a steady 10-minute interval during the extended late-night hours.

On August 30, trains will start earlier at 5 a.m. and finish at 10 p.m., operating every six minutes during peak times and every 10 minutes at other periods.

The midnight schedule will return on September 1, when trains will run until midnight at 10-minute intervals. On National Day (September 2), services will operate non-stop from midnight until 10 p.m., with trains running every six minutes during rush hours and every 10 minutes during off-peak times.

Outside these adjustments, both routes will maintain their regular timetable of 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Hanoi Metro said the extended service is designed to facilitate public participation in major cultural and political events in the capital, while encouraging residents to opt for public transport and ease traffic congestion.

The Cat Linh–Ha Dong line, in service since November 2021, carries around 45,000 passengers daily, while the Nhon–Cau Giay line, launched in August 2024, serves 15,000 to 20,000 passengers per day.
