Hanoi Party leader hails performance of Thang Long Club members

More than 1,000 club members are retired Party and State high ranking officials. They always devote their sentiments and wisdom to the development of Hanoi, helping the capital to maintain its leading role as the political, economic and cultural hub of the country.

On January 8, Hanoi’s Party Committee, People's Council and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee held a meeting with representatives of Thang Long Club on the occasion of the approaching Vietnamese traditional Lunar New Year 2021.

The Party Secretary highly appreciated the contributions of Thang Long Club to the cause of capital construction. 

On behalf of the club’s members, Vice Chairman of Thang Long Club Duong Ngoc Son informed Hanoi Party Secretary about the club's activities as well as its members’ contributions to the development of the city in particular and the country in general.

Last year, despite the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic, Thang Long Club still maintained regular activities with over 100 meetings featuring discussions about political, economic and social issues of the capital and the country.

The club members enthusiastically provided advice for the management of the central authorities and Hanoi, especially for the drafting of documents for the XIII Central Party Congress and the XVII Hanoi Party Congress.

The meeting is organised on the occasion of the approaching Vietnamese traditional Lunar New Year 2021.

The Party Secretary emphasized that the City Party Committee and Hanoi city leaders acknowledged and highly appreciated the enthusiastic contributions and sense of responsibility of the Thang Long Club members to the cause of capital construction. He also informed about the outstanding achievements that the city had gained in 2020.

Hanoi had successfully organized the 17th Party Congress. The capital also implemented well its "dual task" of fighting against COVID-19 pandemic as well as boosting socio-economic development.

Hanoi’s GRDP grew 3.98% in 2020, 1.5 times higher than the national average; industry and construction increased by nearly 7%; agriculture expanded by 4.2%; city's budget revenue reached VND285,000 billion (US$12 billion), exceeding estimation 2.2% and higher than the year of 2019; many projects ensured their progresses.
