Hanoi Police named cybersecurity unit for municipal government

This move is part of a larger effort to strengthen the capital's digital infrastructure and protect it from increasing cyber threats.

THE HANOI TIMES ─ The Hanoi People’s Committee has officially designated the Hanoi Police Department as the city’s primary cybersecurity unit, tasking it with safeguarding the information systems of all municipal departments and agencies.

Under Decision No. 3614/QĐ-UBND, the city police have been entrusted with a broad mandate that encompasses strategic planning and technical operations in cybersecurity.

The department will develop cybersecurity mechanisms, policies, strategies, and action plans.

The department will also evaluate the design and architecture of Hanoi's information systems to ensure compliance with national cybersecurity standards. Moreover, it will oversee the monitoring of high-security systems throughout the

The department will collaborate with the National Cybersecurity Center (under the Ministry of Public Security) to respond to cybersecurity incidents, remove malware, prevent cyberattacks, and protect essential digital services. It will also support Hanoi’s e-government services, digital economy, and online public platforms.

Other tasks include preventing and combating cyberattacks and malware, ensuring the safety of personal information online, and protecting children in cyberspace.
