Hanoi provides jobs for nearly 160,000 workers in 8 months

Hanoi nears its 2025 employment goal, creating nearly 160,000 jobs in eight months through job fairs, loans, and support programs.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi has created jobs for some 160,000 workers and laborers during January-August, almost meeting its annual target, according to the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs.

In August alone, the department created jobs for more than 15,000 workers. Of the total, some 5,800 people were financed to find new jobs through the municipal budget entrusted to the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies.

The home affairs agency also organized job fairs to help more than 1,700 workers secure employed. Some 300 workers were sent abroad and 7,200 others found jobs through other channels.

The Hanoi Employment Service Center organized 23 job fairs in August featuring 630 enterprises offering job vacancies. In total, more than 1,400 workers were recruited through these job fairs.

Along with job placement, the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs provided unemployment insurance benefits to 6,280 workers with a total of VND207 billion ($7.8 million).

Of the recipients, 3,840 people received employment aids and were introduced to new jobs. The city authorities also spent VND348 million ($13,200) organizing vocational courses for 87 workers.

In addition, Hanoi has streamlined procedures to facilitate work permits for foreign experts and skilled workers. It is among the key solutions to meet demand for high-quality human resources.

According to the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs, the city will increase mobile job fairs to help enterprises address labor shortages, particularly in unskilled and mid-level positions.

This is a practical solution to connect labor supply and demand, promote a sustainable labor market, and contribute to Hanoi’s goal of achieving GRDP growth of over 8% in 2025.
