Hanoi is expected to receive more than 13 million tourists in the first 6 months of 2018, up 10% year-on-year, according to Hanoi Department of Tourism.
The number of foreign visitors arriving in Hanoi in the first 6 months of 2018 was estimated at 3 million, up 26% year-on-year. In which, the number of domestic tourists arriving in Hanoi was estimated at 10 million, up 6% year-on-year. The total income from tourism revenue is estimated at more than VND39 trillion (US$1,7 billion).
The visitors mostly came from China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, the US, Germany, Australia and France. In which, China, South Korea and Japan are currently the largest visitor-generating markets for Hanoi’s tourism. Popular attractions included the Temple of Literature, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, Ngoc Son Temple, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum…
Hanoi City Hop on-Hop Off Bus Tour will be launched by the Hanoi Transport and Services Corporation (Transerco) on May 30, bring tourists to famous destinations in the city.
Hanoi City Tour Hop on-Hop off is a convenient service, helping tourists travel and visit well-known destinations in the city on the double-decker buses, according to Transerco’s representative.
The first bus will go to 25 streets, 13 stops and 30 destinations in Hanoi. Tourists can easily schedule and explore Hanoi in their own ways. The bus will run every 30 minutes, from 9 am to 6.10 pm every day. Such services have run in London, New York, Vancouver, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur for years.
A double-decker bus can carry 80 passengers and meets the European emission standards. There are also free wifi, USB chargers and fridges on the bus. Tourists can choose to listen to music or history which is available in several languages while being on the bus.
Earlier, Hanoi the capital of Vietnam was ranked 12rd in TripAdvisors’ top 25 travellers choice of destinations list for this year offering the Old Quarter, monuments and colonial architecture, while making room for modern developments alongside.
Hanoi may have shrugged off several former names, including Thang Long, or “ascending dragon,” but it hasn't forgotten its past, as sites such as Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and Hoa Lo Prison attest. Lakes, parks, shady boulevards and more than 600 temples and pagodas add to the appeal of this city, which is easily explored by taxi, TripAdvisors wrote.
