Hanoi recorded one more Covid-19 infection case on January 30 morning, a man returned from the pandemic-hit province of Hai Duong, according to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC).

The Hanoi CDC said that this is the third Covid-19 case in the city related to the pandemic outbreak in Hai Duong province.

On January 16, the man went to Kinh Mon district of Hai Duong for a wedding party, where he had close contact with a Covid-19 patient.

He displayed symptoms of cough, fatigue and headache and went to the medical center of Nam Tu Liem district to report his travel history on January 29. His sample test result turned out positive for the coronavirus one day later.

The man is now under treatment at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases No.2 in Dong Anh district.

Local authorities found 29 F1 cases linked to the male patient, including seven in Nam Tu Liem district, and 22 in Dong Anh. More efforts are being made to trace F2 and F3 cases.

Previously, Hanoi had recorded two cases of Covid-19, including a 20-year-old male student from Hai Duong, temporarily residing in Cau Giay district and a woman living at Times City residential area, who had close contact with patient No.1553 in Quang Ninh province.

The National Steering Committee on Respiratory Diseases warned of more new Covid-19 cases as they analyzed the epidemiological situation in the two Covid-19 hot spots of Hai Duong and Quang Ninh.

The committee said people must strictly wear masks in crowded places, especially when traveling on public transport, maintain personal hygiene, and wash hands with hand sanitizer.

At the time of writing, Vietnam has reported Covid-19 1,739 cases, including 253 active patients and 35 deaths, which earned the country a place in the top three in a survey of how well countries have handled the pandemic.
