Hanoi rejects misinformation on overloaded isolation areas

Over the recent times, Hanoi police have dealt with dozens of cases of fake news about the epidemic situation.

Hanoi city counts with sufficient conditions, human resources, medical equipment, and isolation areas to prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnam News Agency quoted Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Thi Mai Huong as saying on March 18.

Huong affirmed the Covid-19 situation in Hanoi city has been well controlled. The municipal government is always willing to prepare the best conditions to welcome overseas Vietnamese returning to their homeland in this period of hardship.

The city also has a plan to arrange buses and isolation areas for people returning from abroad. Given a large number of passengers coming from abroad, Huong called for patience and cooperation with authorities at Noi Bai airport's terminals to effectively prevent and control Covid-19.

On handling fake news about the pandemic situation, Huong said any individual or organization found committing such violations will be handled and prosecuted in accordance with regulations. Over the recent times, Hanoi Police has dealt with dozens of cases related to fake news about the pandemic situation.

Expressing understanding of people's confusion and anxiety about the complicated pandemic situation, Huong suggested they should not read unofficial information on social media to avoid being bewildered.

Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung has stated that the city has several facilities available to be converted into isolation establishments for thousands of people coming from overseas.
