Soon after, the Hanoi People’s Committee quickly implemented the directive. The total budget allocated for Hanoi was more than VND858 billion (US$32.5 million) from the central government.
Eligible recipients include Vietnamese citizens and persons of Vietnamese origin who have not yet obtained citizenship but have received identity certificates and were residing in the ward as of August 30, with their personal data updated in the national population database.
Many people arrive early at the locations designated by the communes and wards to receive the gifts. All they need to do is to present their chip-based ID cards for verification, including checking household numbers. The ward has announced in advance through public media the schedule, locations, recipients and procedures for collection.
Every resident of the capital receives a National Day gift in a warm and cheerful atmosphere that strengthened unity. This occasion also deepens the bond between the authorities and the people, spreads the tradition of “remembering the source of the water we drink”, and reaffirms the power of national solidarity.
Pham Hung, a resident of Quang Minh, said: “When I heard that the State was giving each citizen VND100,000 ($3.8) as a National Day gift, I was truly happy. The gift carries deep symbolic meaning and gives encouragement to the people.”
Luu Thi Phuc, another resident, expresses her gratitude to the Party and the State’s care for the people. She believes that under the Party’s leadership, Vietnam will continue to grow and stand alongside powerful nations, as President Ho Chi Minh once wished.
According to Cua Nam Ward Vice Chairwoman Trinh Ngoc Tram, residents must not share their bank account numbers, passwords and OTP codes with anyone under any circumstances to prevent potential risk of scamming. She also advises them not to click on suspicious links or download unverified applications.
Across all 126 communes and wards of Hanoi, the gift is delivered in either cash or bank transfer. For those unable to collect on that day, the deadline is extended until September 15.
