Hanoi responds to occupational safety action month

Ensuring a healthy working environment is one of the most important requirements in business, preventing workplace accidents and occupational diseases.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi will hold many activities to improve the working conditions, health care, and prevention of occupational diseases for workers in response to the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month and Worker Month 2025.

The activities aim to sensitize and educate employers, workers, and medical personnel to prevent and control hazardous and harmful factors at the workplace.

At the same time, the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC) is enforcing the Occupational Safety and Hygiene Law and strengthening workers' health care, prevention of occupational diseases and accidents, and building a safety culture.

Specifically, this includes the establishment of records on occupational environmental hygiene, monitoring of the working environment, pre-work health examinations for workers, periodic health examinations, occupational disease examinations, first aid training, and initial emergency care.

The Hanoi CDC will monitor working conditions in enterprises with many harmful and occupational disease risk factors, such as stone powder, chemicals, solvents, and others.

The center will also guide workplaces to effectively organize the Occupational Safety and Hygiene Action Month and Workers' Month 2025.

According to Nguyen Tay Nam, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs, the action month is part of the city's social security and worker care programs. "It aims to improve occupational safety and health. The city authorities have been asked to improve efficiency to minimize work accidents, fires and explosions," he said.

Nam emphasized that one of the most important requirements for production and business activities is to ensure a healthy working environment, which contributes to maintaining safety at work and to the reduction and prevention of occupational accidents and diseases .

The official called on relevant agencies and enterprises in all economic sectors in Hanoi to strengthen communication on the significance of the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month.

"In addition, the management and inspection of labor safety by regulatory agencies must be strengthened, especially in high-risk industries, small and medium-sized enterprises, and handicraft villages. It is necessary to strictly punish enterprises and individuals who fail to ensure work safety," said Nam.
