Hanoi seeks Japan experience in dealing with environmental issues

Japan’s Ministry of Environment will continue to share experiences and help Hanoi cope with environmental issues, especially sludge treatment.

Hanoi expects Japan to share its experiences in dealing with environmental issues, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen The Hung said at a reception for Japanese Deputy Minister of Environment Yagi Tetsuya on October 29.

Hung emphasized that over the past years, Japan has supported Hanoi in numerous fields, especially in transport infrastructure and environment.

The works built with Japanese financing in Hanoi city are functioning well, Hung said, expressing his hope that in the time ahead, Japan’s Ministry of Environment will continue to share experiences and help Hanoi cope with environmental issues, especially sludge treatment.

For his part, Yagi Tetsuya appreciated the cooperative relationship between Hanoi city and Japan’s localities. He affirmed that, in his position, he would strive to promote bilateral cooperation in a more effective and practical way.

Deputy Minister Yagi Tetsuya also hoped that Hanoi city in particular and Vietnam in general would coordinate with Japan in implementing campaigns of plastic waste reduction.
