Hanoi sees no community outbreaks as covid-19 cases drop, thanks to vaccination efforts

Hanoi’s Center for Disease Control (CDC) has reported three confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the city since the start of 2025, with no fatalities.

The latest data show a remarkable improvement in the city’s efforts to prevent respiratory infectious diseases. Health authorities attribute this progress to widespread vaccination efforts and effective public health measures implemented over the past year. Notably, all three cases reported this year were isolated, and no clusters or community outbreaks have been detected.

In addition to Covid-19, Hanoi continues to monitor other infectious diseases, such as measles and hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD). However, the focus remains on maintaining vigilance against Covid-19 variants.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently emphasized tracking emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants, including the JN.1 strain, which accounted for 15% of sequenced cases worldwide in early 2025.

The Hanoi CDC has urged residents to stay proactive by adhering to preventive measures, such as vaccination and hygiene practices, especially during the winter-spring season. Health officials are also ramping up measles vaccination campaigns for children aged 6 to 9 months to curb rising cases of preventable diseases.

This dramatic reduction in Covid-19 cases underscores the success of Hanoi’s public health strategies and offers hope for sustained control of the pandemic in the months ahead, health experts say.
