Hanoi serves as a bridge linking Quang Binh with investors

The capital city will promote cooperation with the central province in trade, investment, and urban planning and development.

Hanoi will promote cooperation with Quang Binh, a tourist attraction in the central part of Vietnam, in trade and investment, tourism, and urban planning and development.

The step is expected to open up a new chapter of more intensive and comprehensive cooperation between the two localities, in which Hanoi will be a bridge to connect domestic and foreign investors with key projects in Quang Binh Province.

The cooperation was discussed by leaders of the two sides in Quang Binh Province on July 12.

Deputy Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung said the current cooperation between the capital city and the central province is not commensurate with their potential and strengths. “Promotion activities are still separate, failing to build up an overall image of tourism destinations of localities.”

Leaders of the capital city and the province agreed that they will encourage and create favorable conditions for socio-political organizations and sectors to strengthen meetings, exchange experiences, and cooperation in various fields.

Director of Hanoi Tourism Department Dang Huong Giang said Quang Binh is one of the five attractive destinations of Vietnam, with about 60% of tourists coming from Hanoi.

She said the province is in a shortage of tourism businesses while the tourism sector’s labor force is inexperienced.

Giang suggested the two localities promote the linkage of tours and tourism routes, while Hanoi will support training to improve the quality of the labor force in the tourism sector.

Secretary of Quang Binh Party Committee Vu Dai Thang said he expected Hanoi to support the province in promoting the digital transformation program and organizing an annual event entitled “Quang Binh Day in Hanoi” to strengthen tourism, trade, and the image of Quang Binh in the capital city.

Thang said trade activities at the Cha Lo border gate between Quang Binh Province and Khammouane Province of Laos are very busy, therefore he expected that Hanoi would promote trade and investment connections with Laos via the province.

"Quang Binh is in the process of rapid urbanization, so we want to cooperate and exchange experiences with Hanoi's departments and branches in urban planning and zoning planning," Thang said.

Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong said under the Politburo's Resolution15-NQ/TW dated May 5, 2022, on directions and tasks to develop Hanoi until 2030, with a vision to the year 2050, there pose many opportunities and challenges to boost Hanoi’s development in the coming time.

He said the capital city will further extend cooperation in the Hanoi Capital Region [a center for the development of the Red River Delta and a key economic region of the north, with high regional and international competitiveness by 2030].

“With the spirit of “Hanoi for the whole country, the whole country for Hanoi”, Hanoi wishes to promote cooperation with provinces and cities across the country, including Quang Binh province," he added.

Phong suggested the two sides strengthen their support for the communication and promotion of culture and tourism, cooperate in non-public education, and build a high-quality health system.

The capital city has Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center, which can support Quang Binh in training high-quality athletes. At the same time, Hanoi is promoting the construction of an urban government model that can share experiences with Quang Binh in this field.

On this occasion, Hanoi awarded scholarships, gifts, and bicycles to disadvantaged students who overcame their difficulties to study well, gave gifts to local families who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution with a total amount of VND157 million, and funded VND3 billion to help the province implement social welfares.
