Hanoi starts project to revive To Lich and Lu rivers

The facility treating waste water discharged by Ba Dinh, Tu Liem, Dong Da, Thanh Xuan, Hoang Mai, Ha Dong and Thanh Tri districts, is expected to revive the rivers of To Lich, Lu, Set, and a section of the Nhue river, contributing to the sustainable development of Hanoi city. 
The wastewater treatment station has the total investment caital of more than 16,000 billion VND.
Director of the municipal Department of Construction Le Van Duc said that the project includes four components, including the building of the Yen Xa wastewater treatment station. 
Other three components aim to build 52.61 km-long drainage systems along the Lich, Lu, and Nhue rivers.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said pollution in the city’s rivers and lakes is an urgent problem as urban wastewater is currently collected and discharged into the rivers of Kim Nguu, Set, To Lich, and Lu and lakes in the city. 
According to Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung, the project is expected to significantly improve the rivers’ water quality and the city’s environment.

The Hanoi's leader also urged relevant bodies to facilitate the project’s implementation, so that it can be put into operation in 2019, two years ahead of its schedule. 
Addressing the launching ceremony, Head of the Japanese Consultation Team Kunji Akinaga vowed to ensure the project will be implemented in a safe and effective manner with high quality in accordance with the set schedule.
