The students from grades 7A1, 7A2, 8H, 8H1, and 9K1 joined thousands of other contestants from 50 countries and territories around the world, including many excellent teams from countries strong in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, such as the US, China, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, and others.
All three topics submitted by Hanoi students won gold medals, including Family First Aid Robot, Fire Escape Support Device, and Automatic Pet Care System. Among them, one theme pocketed a special award for its creative idea and human significance.
The topics were judged by the world's leading experts in science and technology. The contestants had to answer two rounds of critical questions directly from the judges. At the exhibition, they had to explain the ideas, purpose, applicability, scientific basis, and effectiveness of the topic.
The success of the Hanoi students continues the proud achievements of the capital's students in STEM subjects. The result has further validated the quality and effectiveness of STEM education for Vietnamese students.
Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Headmistress of Trung Vuong Secondary School, said that the greatest achievements students receive after each exam are not only valuable awards but also experiences and useful skills.
"This is an opportunity for each student to become an ambassador to promote the image of the country and the hardworking, friendly, and dynamic Vietnamese people, as well as a chance to interact with many different cultures," Ha added.
