Hanoi suspends entertainment activities in response to Typhoon Wipha

Artefacts susceptible to storm damage are to be documented and inventoried to support recovery efforts.

THE HANOI TIMES — In light of the intensification of Storm No. 3 (internationally known as Wipha), the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports has ordered the suspension of all entertainment, recreational and tourism activities.

This request is part of an official dispatch on implementing disaster prevention measures at historical and cultural sites, as well as scenic spots across the city.

The department has urged local authorities and relevant units to urgently inspect electrical systems and implement plans to protect relics within their jurisdiction.

Municipal agencies are also being urged to enhance disaster prevention and search and rescue operations to minimize damage caused by heavy rain and strong winds.

The department has also requested that artefacts susceptible to storm damage be documented and inventoried to support recovery efforts and clarify the responsibilities of relevant parties.

For deteriorating relics, especially those near rivers or lakes or undergoing renovation, relevant units must implement specific measures to prevent flooding or structural collapse.

Additionally required measures include maintaining environmental hygiene, strengthening fire prevention and control, ensuring public security, and complying with regulations concerning the restoration and protection of relics.
