Hanoi targets 1,200 supporting industry firms by 2030
The city aims to enhance the competitiveness of the capital’s industrial sector by tightening cooperation with Vietnamese enterprises and multinational corporations operating in Vietnam.
THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi plans to expand its supporting-industry base to about 1,200 firms by 2030, a central goal of its new development program designed to deepen supply-chain ties with domestic producers and global manufacturers.
More than 40% of these enterprises are expected to meet international standards and be capable of joining global supply chains.
This target forms part of a roadmap in which Hanoi has placed the development of a modern, multilayered production and supply network at the center of its newly approved Supporting Industry Development Program for 2026–2030, with a vision to 2035.

By 2035, the number is expected to reach 1,400, with around 45% meeting international standards. Each year, 200-500 companies will benefit from the city’s support policies.
The program aims to enhance the competitiveness of the capital’s industrial sector by tightening cooperation with Vietnamese enterprises and multinational corporations operating in Vietnam.
The city prioritizes supporting industry fields with high demand and competitive potential, aligned with national and municipal industrial strategies.
Key sectors include textiles and garments, footwear, information technology, precision engineering, electronics, automation, electrical equipment, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and premium cosmetics, food processing and new materials.
Hanoi also plans to strengthen regional supply chains by linking with provinces that have strong industrial clusters, especially in automobiles and motorbikes in Hanoi, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, machinery manufacturing in Hanoi and Thai Nguyen, mobile phones in Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen and Phu Tho, and electronic household appliances.
A major task is attracting more supporting-industry firms to the South Hanoi Supporting Industrial Park and other industrial parks, high-tech zones and established industrial clusters.
The city will accelerate key infrastructure projects such as the Hanoi Information Technology Park, the Hanoi Biotech High-Tech Park, Soc Son Clean Industrial Park, Dong Anh Industrial Park, and the expansion of the South Hanoi Supporting Industrial Park.
It also encourages businesses to invest in high technologies, upgrade production processes, and apply AI and digital transformation to boost new industries with strong growth potential.
The program provides comprehensive assistance from capacity building and business-to-business connections to market promotion and helping firms qualify as suppliers to multinational groups.
Hanoi will also support companies in adopting global-standard management systems and improving production processes. Developing high-quality human resources for supporting industries remains a top priority.
International cooperation will be expanded through trade fairs, exhibitions, investment promotion events, advisory services for mergers and acquisitions and study missions abroad to learn best practices in supporting industry development.
In the coming years, Hanoi will help enterprises conduct testing, certification and quality assessment, develop technical standards aligned with international practice and build databases on manufacturing and supporting industries.
The city will also establish a specialized digital portal and publish evaluation criteria for supporting-industry enterprises.
